Boats & Gear

The fishing, it’s what we do!

At Kodiak Lodge you don’t have to worry about what gear you need to bring, we have it all covered. From boats customized to our style of fishing, big enough to safely get you there but nimble enough to get into tight spots where some of the best fishing can be. Tackle that has been selected over years of experience to maximize the fun and effectiveness for each species we target. E-Bikes for easy, low impact access to awesome river fishing, and waterproof outerwear to keep you comfortable in the wilds of Kodiak.

Boats

New for the 2020 season is a matching pair of 29’ North River Seahawk Walk-Arounds! The heated cabin comfortably seats 5 guests and has a standup head. By utilizing a walk-around cabin, everyone is able to easily move around the boat while fishing and makes for a large fishing area on the boat. A deep v-hull makes for a smooth ride in choppy waters and twin 250hp Yamaha Four-Stroke motors get you to the fishing grounds faster, maximizing time fishing. Equipped with the latest marine electronics and radar from Raymarine makes navigating safely and finding fish easier than ever. For salmon trolling, they are rigged with Scotty Depthpower electric downriggers to keep lures in the exact zone the fish are traveling.

Tackle

Each boat is equipped with the latest top-quality gear from Daiwa with 3 different set-ups for each angler. Depending on what we are targeting or which technique we are using there is a finely tuned set-up for each angler. Most of our saltwater fishing is very hands on, utilizing jigs and lures, where you get a chance to feel the fish take your lure before fighting it all the way to the boat.

For freshwater fishing we use both spinning and fly gear rigged specifically for your quarry, with techniques that are effective and maximize the fun.

E-Bikes

To access the Karluk River we have Quiet Kat electric bikes to make the 2-mile long access trail an easy and fun experience. Utilizing electric bikes will lower our impact and footprint on the land while accessing some of the best freshwater fishing on the island.

Raingear, Boots & Waders

No need to worry about gearing up for your trip with raingear, boots, or waders; we have it covered. Besides, packing these heavy and bulky items requires more luggage to worry about when headed home with boxes of fish. For fishing on the boats, harvesting fish can get messy with blood and slime. We have rain gear and Xtra-Tuf boots to keep your clothes clean and dry. Freshwater fishing requires waders to access the best holes, so breathable waders and Vibram soled wading boots are provided for any of our river excursions.
